The Uniqueness of My School

 

SD Muhammadiyah 1 Pakem is located 15 km away from Merapi volcano. It is located in a disaster-prone area so that every school’s staff needs to concern about the disaster’s potency.

            All of the school’s staff are equipped with a good education of disaster mitigation programs. We are prepared if the disaster like earthquake and volcano eruption suddenly occur. Besides, our school also becomes the shelter if those disasters occur.

            The school’s vision is to have a good morality (akhlaqul karimah), be the best in academic achievement, be innovative, be an independent person, be insightful about the environment, and be responsive toward the disaster.

             Our school’s motto is “Dare to school, dare to excel”. Students are developed with their talent and interest. That’s why our school has various extracurricular activities such as Hizbul Wathan, Al-Qur’an Tahfidz, futsal, English conversation, Jarimatika, Qiro’ah and Tartil, eco-green club, archery, swimming, dance, martial art, and multimedia. By developing their talent and interest, we hope that students can enjoy their school activities that have a good impact on their achievement.

            We have a large school hall that provides students to do their school activities freely. We also provide traditional games such as egrang, dakon, sunda manda, gobag sodor, yeye, benthik, marbles, and many more.

            Our school also has an internship program for a scholar who wants to know the process of teaching and learning in our school. We work with some scholars from Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia who have an internship teaching in our school.

All the students are regularly studying from Monday to Saturday before the pandemic. We have a good habit that increases the relationship between students and teachers. Each student has a shake-hand moment with teachers before they start the day in front of the class. Then, at 9.30 A.M. all students enjoy their snack together. They always bring a healthy snack every day. They also enjoy their lunchtime together in class continued with Dzuhur prayer.

In a pandemic situation, we make a special program for students that allow them to learn and be creative from home by utilizing video conference technology. The teachers and other school staff always implementing strict health protocols to maintain cleanliness and healthiness in the school’s environment.
